HANOVER, N.H. — Last weekend, the Big Green played at Ivy competitors Yale and Brown. At Yale, two different skaters scored for Dartmouth to earn a 2-1 victory. In the contest at Brown, sophomore Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.) had a career night. She recorded her first career hat trick and had an assist in the 6-0 win.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth returns to Thompson Arena this weekend riding a season-best five-game winning streak. Four of the five wins have been against ECAC foes, and have moved the Big Green into sole possession of third place in the conference. The streak improved the team to 14-8-0 overall, 10-6-0 in the ECAC and 5-3-0 in the Ivy League. Cornell leads the conference with a perfect 16-0-0 record.
Multiple skaters have tallied points for Dartmouth, with Dumais leading the way. Dumais leads the team with 25 points on 11 goals and a team-best 14 assists. Senior Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) is second on the team with 24 points on a team-leading 13 goals and 11 assists. Sophomore Sasha Nanji (Markham, Ont.) is third with 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points. She also is the top-scoring defensman for the Big Green. Junior Kelly Foley (Boston, Mass.) is fourth on the team with 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists. Junior Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.) is fifth with 18 points, junior Jenna Hobeika (Alpine, N.J.) is sixth with 16 points and sophomore Sally Komarek (Minneapolis, Minn.) is seventh with 15 points. Lauren Kelly (Milton, Ont.) leads the freshman class with six points on one goal and five assists. Overall, the squad has had 16 players who have recorded a point, and had 14 players record a goal and an assist.
In net, freshman Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has come on strong of late, allowing only three goals in the last five games. Holdcroft has started 15 games on the season and played 880:45 minutes. She has 270 saves, a 2.18 goals against average, a 10-5-0 record, a .894 save percentage and three shutouts. Sophomore Whitney Woodcox (Oshawa, Ont.) has started seven games, totaling 442:41 minutes. She has 132 saves, a 2.17 goals against average, a 4-3-0 record and a .892 save percentage.
The team is averaging 3.50 goals per game, while allowing 2.23 goals per game. The offense has been aggressive, taking 33.4 shots per game. On the power play, the Big Green have scored goals on 25 of their 103 chances or 24.3 percent of the time. On the penalty kill, Dartmouth has allowed goals on eight out of the 94 chances.
DUMAIS BIG NIGHT
Dumais recorded her first career hat trick on Saturday in the 6-0 victory at Brown. She scored three of the first four Big Green goals and added an assist for four total points. It tied her previous career high of four points, which she set at Brown in 2009. Dumais is the second Big Green player to record a hat trick this season. Nanji scored three goals at Princeton on Nov. 12.
ON THE POWER PLAY
Dartmouth has been fantastic on the power play this season and especially in their five-game winning streak. The Big Green have recorded a power play goal in each of the five games, and have held their opponents scoreless with a man advantage.
The Big Green are third in the nation, scoring 24.3 percent (25/103) of the time they are on a power play. Cornell leads at 26.9 percent (25/93), and Mercyhurst is second at 25.2 (39/155).
On the penalty kill, Dartmouth is third, killing the power play 91.5 percent (86/94) of the time. Cornell leads the nation at 97.2 (69/71), and Boston University is second at 93.9 (107/114).
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a 17-9-1 record overall and are fourth in the conference with a 9-7-0 mark. The Bobcats have won four of their last six, but split at home last weekend.
Against Clarkson on Jan. 28, Quinnipiac led 2-0 in the second period, but lost 3-2 in overtime. Against St. Lawrence the next day, the Bobcats had four players score a goal in a 4-2 win.
Freshman Kelly Babstock leads the team with 43 points on 22 goals and 21 assists. Junior Kate Wheeler is second with 24 points on 11 goals and 13 assists. Freshman Erica Uden Johansson is third with 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists. Junior Bethany Dymarcyzk is fourth with 15 points on three goals and 12 assists.
In net, Victoria Vigilanti has started 26 games and played 1,571:45 minutes. She has 604 saves, a .928 save percentage, a 1.79 goals against average, a 16-9-1 record and six shutouts.
SERIES HISTORY
When Dartmouth and Quinnipiac play Friday it will be for only the 12th time. The Big Green lead the all-time series, 7-2-2. The squads first met on January 5, 2005 at Thompson Arena. Dartmouth won the game easily, 5-2. The Bobcats earned a tie in the next game, but didn't garner a victory in the series until last year on November 14, 2009. Quinnipiac swept the two games last season, winning both, 2-1. Dartmouth won the game earlier this season at Quinnipiac, 4-3, in overtime on Nov. 13.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers enter the weekend with an 11-11-1 record overall and are 8-7-1 in the ECAC. Princeton is in a tie for fifth in the conference with Clarkson at 17 points. The Tigers have won eight of their past nine games, but went 1-1 last weekend at home against St. Lawrence and Clarkson.
Against St. Lawrence on Jan. 28, Princeton scored four goals and shut out the Saints, 4-0. The next night against Clarkson, the Tigers scored two goals, but it wasn't enough in a 3-2 loss.
Freshman Olivia Mucha leads the team with 16 points on seven goals and nine assists. Two players are tied for second on the team with 15 points. Freshman Sally Butler has eight goals and seven assists and senior Sasha Sherry has three goals and 12 assists.
Junior Rachel Weber has seen a majority of the time in net. She has started 16 games and played 980:06 minutes. She has 400 saves, a .939 save percentage, a 1.59 goals against average, a 9-7-1 record and six shutouts.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's contest marks the 72nd time that Dartmouth and Princeton have competed on the ice. The Tigers lead the all-time series, 38-28-5. The teams first met on January 24, 1978 at Thompson Arena. Princeton won handily over the Big Green, 9-2. The Tigers dominated the series early on, winning 20 of the first 22 games. Dartmouth earned its first win in the series on February 10, 1985. The Big Green won the game earlier this season at Princeton, 3-2, in overtime on Nov. 12.
