The Dartmouth women's crew team is set to make its third NCAA Championship appearance since 2007, with the Big Green sending three boats to compete in Sacramento this weekend. The races will be contested at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma, which is located in Gold River, Calif., near Sacramento.
Friday, May 27 is the first day of competition, with races running through Sunday. Results will be updated daily on DartmouthSports.com and live results can be viewed through the links above.
Dartmouth is sending its complete team (two eights, one four) to the NCAA Championships for the second time since 2009. The Big Green also qualified its varsity eight boat in 2007, finishing eighth of 16. Dartmouth is one of five EAWRC (Ivy) crews in the 16-team field this year. Yale, Brown, Princeton and Radcliffe (Harvard) all join the Big Green.
A strong showing at the Eastern Sprints propelled Dartmouth to the NCAA bid, as the varsity eight finished third in the Grand Final, medaling for the first time since 2007 and outperforming its seeding of seventh. The second varsity eight took fourth in its Grand Final.
Since 1997, seven of the NCAA Women's Rowing Team Championships have been won by EAWRC crews, with Brown taking home six including 2008, 2007 and a share of the title in 2006.
