The Dartmouth College women's soccer team (1-3-0) continues the non-conference slate with a pair of games this week. The Big Green makes the short trip to Chestnut Hill, Mass., on Wednesday (Sept. 14) to take on No. 18 Boston College before heading home for a regional matchup with Maine on Sunday (Sept. 18). Kickoff with the Eagles is set for 4 p.m. and Sunday's game with the Black Bears is a 1:00 p.m. scheduled start.
BIG GREEN TIDBITS
Back to Burnham - The Big Green return to Burnham Field for a matchup with regional foe Maine on Sunday (Sept. 18). Dartmouth has a 1-0 home record this season after defeating rival Vermont, 2-1, last week. The Big Green has a six-game home schedule this season and will have four home games remaining after this weekend. Dartmouth's remaining home schedule includes UMass (Sept. 27), Princeton (Oct. 1), Columbia (Oct. 22) and Cornell (Nov. 5).
She Shoots, She Scores - Dartmouth posted its first goals of the season against Vermont (Sept. 8). After going scoreless against Texas A&M and Texas in the opening weekend, the Big Green got goals from freshman forward Tasha Wilkins (Portland, Ore.) and Chrissy Lozier (Fairfield, Conn.). Wilkins goal was her first collegiate goal while Lozier's goal was her first career game-winner.
Big Green head to OT - The Big Green played their first overtime game of the season against Rutgers on Sunday (Sept. 11). It was the first overtime contest under head coach Theresa Wagner and the first OT game for the Big Green since a playing two overtime contests last season. Both of those contests resulted in ties. The overtime was also the first OT game for freshman goalkeeper Tatiana Saunders (Rye, N.Y.).
Ivy League Honor Roll For Lozier - Sophomore midfielder Chrissy Lozier (Fairfield, Conn.) was named to the Ivy League honor roll for her performance last week against Vermont and Rutgers. Lozier scored the game-winning goal against Vermont and added a shot against Rutgers.
Another Day, Another Ranked Foe - The Big Green will be taking on their second consecutive ranked opponent when they travel to Boston College on Wednesday (Sept. 14). The Eagles are the No. 18 team in this week's NSCAA national poll and last season advanced to the College Cup. Dartmouth has already taken on three opponents that are regionally ranked, including dropping a 1-0 OT contest to regionally ranked Rutgers in its last outing.
Welcome Back to Massachusetts - Wednesday's matchup with Boston College will give several Big Green players a chance to play in their home state. Sophomore midfielder Marina Moschitto (Andover, Mass.), freshman defender Laura Thurber (Belmont, Mass.), and sophomore midfielder Ari Kenyon (Hanover, Mass.) will be playing in their home state for the first time this season. The Big Green will venture back to Massachusetts two more times this season with games at Boston University (Oct. 19) and Harvard (Oct. 29).
Captain My Captain - The Big Green have named three upperclassmen as captains for the 2011 season. Seniors Ally Dutton (Granite Bay, Calif.) and Erin Fleischli (San Mateo, Calif.) and junior Kim Rose (Seaford, N.Y.) will wear the captain's armband this season.
Looking at Boston College -- Wednesday's game against Boston College marks the 15th meeting between the two teams and the first meeting since the 2005 season. The 2005 meeting was in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, a game that the Eagles won, 2-1, in overtime. Boston College has won three of the last four meetings. The Eagles enter Wednesday's game with a 4-0-2 record after defeating Colgate, 4-0, on Sunday. Boston College is led by Kristen Mewis who has three goals and three assists for a team-leading nine points. Jillian Mastroianni is in net for the Eagles and has a 4-0-2 record and boasts a 0.16 goals against average.
A Glance at Maine- Maine plays a midweek contest at UMass before traveling to Hanover, N.H., to take on the Big Green. The Black Bears have a 3-1-1 record entering the UMass game and haven't lost a game in their last three outings. Maine is led by Carolyne Nellis who leads the team with eight points on four goals, Goalkeeper Meagan Price-Leibenzeder has made 29 saves and has a 0.96 goals against average. Maine and Dartmouth last met during the 2009 season. Dartmouth has won each of the last two meetings and owns a 3-2-1 series advantage.
