BIG GREEN TIDBITS
Home Sweet Burnham - The Big Green look to increase their home record to a perfect 4-0 when they host UMass and Princeton this weekend. Burnham Field has been very kind to the women's soccer team this season as the Big Green sports a 2-0 record at home with wins over Vermont and Maine. Dartmouth's remaining home contests include Ivy League contests with Columbia (Oct. 22) and Cornell (Nov. 5).
Wilkins Named to Ivy League Honor Roll - Freshman forward Tasha Wilkins (Portland, Ore.) was named to the Ivy League honor roll for her goal against Colgate. Wilkins is the second Dartmouth player to be named to the Ivy League honor roll, sophomore midfielder Chrissy Lozier (Fairfield, Conn.) was also named to the Ivy League honor roll earlier this season.
Wilkins Nets Another Goal - Freshman forward Tasha Wilkins (Portland, Ore.) picked up her second goal of the season in Dartmouth's 2-1 overtime loss to Colgate (Sept. 20). Wilkins has scored a team-leading two goals and is the lone Big Green player with multiple goals this season.
Another Day, Another OT - The Big Green have played three overtime games this season, including each of the last two games. Dartmouth last played three overtimes during the 2009 season when they also played three overtime contests. Prior to this season, the Big Green haven't played back-to-back overtime contests since the 2008 season when they played three consecutive games that went into extra sessions.
One Goal Away - Five of Dartmouth's last six games have been decided by one goal, including each of the last three games. The Big Green have a 2-3 record in games decided by one goal and hasn't allowed more than three goals in a game this season.
Regionally Ranked Foe on Tap - Tuesday's matchup with UMass marks the fifth regional or nationally ranked opponent for Dartmouth this season. The Big Green has taken on nationally-ranked Boston College and Texas A&M as well as regionally-ranked opponents, Texas, Rutgers and Brown. Dartmouth has pushed both Brown and Rutgers to overtime.
Ivy League Home Opener - The Big Green look to get back on track in the Ivy League home opener against Princeton on Saturday. Dartmouth hasn't lost an Ivy League home opener since the 2008 season and is looking for its third consecutive Ivy League home-opening win. The Big Green has won five of its last eight Ivy League home-openers.
Captain My Captain - The Big Green have named three upperclassmen as captains for the 2011 season. Seniors Ally Dutton (Granite Bay, Calif.) and Erin Fleischli (San Mateo, Calif.) and junior Kim Rose (Seaford, N.Y.) will wear the captain's armband this season.
Looking at UMass -- Tuesday's game marks the first meeting between Dartmouth and UMass since the 2007 season. UMass owns a 15-4-1 series advantage and Dartmouth last defeated the Minutewomen, 1-0, in Amherst, Mass., during the 2005 season. The series between the Big Green and Minutewomen has gone into overtime on four occasions and seven of the last nine games have been decided by one goal. UMass enters Tuesday game with a 5-2-1 record and as winner of its last three games, including an overtime win against Ivy League foe Brown in its last outing. Deanna Colarossi leads the Minutewomen with two goals and three assists for a team-leading seven points. Goalkeepers Emily Cota and Stephanie Gordon have split time in the net. Cota owns a 3-1-0 record and Gordon has a 2-1-1 record. Cota is sporting a 0.50 goals against average with 19 saves while Gordon has a 1.42 goals against average and has made 17 saves.
Scouting Princeton - Princeton has a full week in between games before making the trip to Hanover, N.H., on Saturday. The Tigers have a 1-6-1 record and dropped their Ivy League opener, 2-0 to Yale, on Saturday (Sept. 24). Jen Hoy leads the Tiger offense with a team-best six points on two goals and two assists. Caitlin Blosser also has two goals for the Tigers who are winless in their last four games. Claire Pinciaro leads the Princeton defense and has a 2.05 goals against average and has made 25 saves this season.
