HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's soccer team has placed three players on the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Ivy League squad. Senior captains Emma Brush (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) and Aurelia Solomon (Washington, D.C.) earned first-team honors while Chrissy Lozier (Fairfield, Conn.) was a second-team selection.
Senior tri-captain, Brush is looking to continue her outstanding junior season in 2012. In 2011, Brush made 15 appearances with 13 starts. She tallied her first career goal against Yale and her 14 shots ranked fourth best on the team while her seven shots on goal was third-best on the squad. She earned Dartmouth Player of the Year honors as well as All-Ivy League second-team honors and Academic All-Ivy accolades.
Solomon, also a team captain, started in 11 games on the season, despite missing time with injury. A staple in the Dartmouth backline, Solomon helped the Big Green to three shutouts and a team .679 saves percentage. For her efforts, Solomon earned All-Ivy League honorable mention accolades, marking the second consecutive season she has earned All-Ivy League accolades.
Lozier, a junior midfielder, made 16 appearances with 14 starts during her sophomore campaign. She earned three points on the season with one goal and one assist. Showcasing her offensive skills, Lozier tallied 15 shots, third best for the Big Green in 2011. Her outstanding play throughout the course of the season earned her a spot on the All-Ivy League second team for the second consecutive season.
Penn led the way with Coach of the Year in Darren Ambrose, Defensive Player of the Year in Sarah Blanks and Offensive Player of the Year Kathryn Barth. Harvard's Haley Washburn was selected as Freshman of the Year.
The Big Green opens the 2012 campaign on Friday, Aug. 31 when it takes on UCF and South Florida in the UCF Tournament. Dartmouth will face host, UCF, on Friday and close tournament action with South Florida on Sunday, Sept. 2.
