DARTMOUTH WOMEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY NOTES
Live Stats: Dartmouthsports.com | Ron Rainey Report: Cornell
All-Time Series vs. Cornell – Dartmouth owns the all-time series record over Cornell, 24-7-5. Last season, the Big Green completed the season with a 4-1 win over the Big Red in Hanover. Dartmouth is riding a nine-game winning streak over Cornell, dating back to 2005.
Scouting Cornell – Cornell has dropped its past two games against Brown (2-0) and Princeton (2-1). The Big Red are 1-5 in the Ivy League and will look to play the spoiler role, as will Columbia when they meet Harvard. Elizabeth Crowell leads the Red with 14 points (6g, 2a). Caroline Growney is second on the team 13 points. Kelsey Tierney is 5-8 with a 1.33 goals against average.
Saunders Named Ivy Player of the Week — Senior keeper Tatiana Saunders was named the Ivy League women's soccer Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday morning. The Rye, New York product picked up a pair of shutouts last week against Marist and Ivy foe Harvard. On Monday evening in Poughkeepsie, Saunders made three saves in a 1-0 win for the Big Green. In her final match of the week, Saunders made five saves as the Big Green upset the Ivy League's top squad from Harvard. This is Saunders' second-career player of the week award, as the keeper has posted a 5-4-4 record with seven shutouts and a 0.65 goals against average. Saunders has not allowed a goal in the previous four games, a span of 360 minutes.
Ivy Title Scenario — On Saturday, Nov. 8, Harvard plays Columbia, needing a win to clinch its second-straight Ivy title. But because of the Crimson's 2-0 loss to Dartmouth, the Big Green can take the title with a win over Cornell and a Harvard loss or tie.
If Harvard loses and Dartmouth loses or ties, Princeton can tie for the Ivy title with a win over Penn. But due to tiebreakers, only the Crimson and Big Green can receive the League's Automatic Qualifier to the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
