Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1
Dartmouth College
Day One
9/26/2014 8:00:00 PM | Men's Tennis
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After opening the fall portion of its season last weekend at the Farnsworth Ivy Plus Tournament at Princeton, the Dartmouth men's tennis team headed south to Alabama for the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall Tournament. On the first day of action on Friday, the Big Green went 5-3, going 2-2 in doubles and 3-1 in singles.
“I saw progress today,” said assistant coach Tom Boysen. “What impressed me was our ability to compete and fight at a high level while not losing sight of our goals for the fall season.”
Sophomore Max Schmidt went undefeated on the first day of action, winning his doubles match against host Alabama alongside fellow sophomore Diego Pedraza before defeating his opponent from South Alabama in singles.
“In doubles, we continued to improve in many of the areas that we are working on in our practices,” continued Boysen. “Some of these things are starting to become second nature. In singles, we went 2-0 in matches that went to a deciding third set, even saving match points in one of them. We played our most intelligent and best tennis at the most critical times.”
The Big Green returns to the courts tomorrow morning for the final day of the Tournament.
