WORCESTER, Mass. – The Dartmouth field hockey team dropped a non-conference game, 3-2, at Holy Cross' Hart Field on a rainy Wednesday night.

After the Big Green (6-8) tied the game in the 63rd minute, the Crusaders (8-9) answered back with a score of their own in the 67th minute to re-take the lead they would not relinquish in the final moments to earn the win.

Anna Ewasechko — the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week — continued her strong play as of late with a spinning goal between the leg pads of goalkeeper Megan Inch to tie the game at 2-2 late in regulation.

However, it was Holy Cross' leading scorer Maureen Connolly who carried the ball through the midfield before a hard shot from the right side got past Dartmouth's Paige Duffy with just 3:26 remaining for the eventual game winner and her second tally of the night.

The scoring might have wrapped-up late, but it also got started early in this one as senior co-captain Rebecca Hu netted her 10th of the season just 5:48 into the contest. Classmate Brooke Van Valkenburg picked up the lone assist on the play.

And like they did late in the contest, the Crusaders wasted very little time in answering back. Emily Loprete tied things up at 1-1 just 41 seconds after the Hu marker.

The score stayed that way for the rest of the first half before Connolly's first of the evening put the home team up a goal for the first time 2:14 into the second stanza.

Duffy finished the game with six stops and was aided by a defensive save from Laura Donald. At the other end of the field, Inch matched her Big Green counterpart with six saves of her own.

The Green and White held a 15-13 edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Dartmouth heads back out on the road this weekend for a pair of games at Harvard on Saturday and Vermont on Sunday.
