HANOVER, N.H. — The Ivy League office announced its first weekly award winners for men's basketball this afternoon, and Dartmouth freshman
Evan Boudreaux was pegged as the Rookie of the Week for his performance against Seton Hall in the 84-67 loss on Friday night.
The 6-8 forward from Lake Forest, Illinois, lit up the Pirates for a game-high 25 points in his collegiate debut, connecting on 7-of-14 field goals, one coming from behind the arc, while converting 10-of-11 at the foul line. He also chipped in six rebounds and three steals, helping the Big Green keep the deficit in single digits until the final nine minutes of the game.
Boudreaux's 25 points are the most by a Dartmouth freshman in the season opener since freshman eligibility went into effect for the 1978-79 season, and he is the first freshman to score at least 25 points in a game since
Alex Mitola put up 27 against Yale in February of 2013. His 25 points match the most by a Dartmouth player in a season opener since the calendar flipped to 2000 (
Gabas Maldunas had 25 three years ago against Maine).
Dartmouth (0-1) returns to the hardwood on Tuesday night when it plays at Marist (0-1) at 7 p.m.
