HARTFORD, Conn. – The Dartmouth men's squash team lost its first match of the season to top-ranked Trinity, 9-0 in Hartford, Conn.
The loss drops the Big Green to 4-1, while Bantams improve to 3-0.
Sophomore Brian Giegerich and freshman Sam Epley started off strong for Dartmouth, taking the opening games against their opponents, however both couldn't close out the remaining games losing, 3-1. Junior Nick Harrington faced tough competition and fell in three straight games.
Senior James Fisch had a marathon match after losing the first two games, Fisch battled back to tie his match, 2-2. In the fifth game, Fisch took an 8-6 lead, but could not complete the comeback, losing the game, 11-9. Meanwhile, senior Kyle Martino won his first game before dropping the next two. Martino took the fourth game, but could not come up with the win in the fifth game.
Freshmen Carson Spahr and Matthew Giegerich, along with junior Glen Brickman all lost in three straight games to stiff competition.
The Big Green return to the court for two home matches on Jan. 9 against Princeton and Jan. 10 to take on Penn.
