THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth women's soccer team will return to the field earlier than in years past, officially opening the 2015 season on the road Sunday against Marist. This is just the second time in program history that the two teams have met.
SCOUTING MARIST
While the Big Green are playing their first game of the year, the Red Foxes are already on game three. On Aug. 21, Marist kicked off 2015 with a narrow 2-1 loss to Providence, but came back a few days later to defeat Lehigh in overtime, 2-1, on home turf.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE RED FOXES
On Oct. 27, 2014, Lucielle Kozlov scored the lone goal of the game, finding the back of the net in the 71st minute following passes by Meredith Gurnee and Kate Castillo, to lift the Big Green over the Red Foxes, 1-0, at Tenney Stadium. In net, Tatiana Saunders made three saves for her sixth shutout of the season.
RAINEY AND COMPANY
In his first season with the Big Green, head coach Ron Rainey has compiled a record of 8-5-4 and a 3-1-3 mark in Ivy League play. Joining Rainey on the bench are Grace Barnard, who is starting her second season as an assistant coach, and Cord Farmer, who is in his first year as an assistant after spending the 2014 season at Nevada.
CAPTAINS
The Green are led by Corey Delaney, Jackie Friedman and Lucielle Kozlov, who are all entering their final season on the field. Last season, Delaney was second on the team in points (11) and assists, and third in goals (4), Friedman recorded one goal and two helpers, and Kozlov led the team in goals (5) and points (12).
CLASS OF 2019
Opening their collegiate careers this year and making up a 10-player freshman class are Remy Borinsky, Chloe Conacher, Jaclyn Engel, Stephanie Everett, Julia Fissore-O'Leary, Katie Harris, Lauren Lucas, Ellen Pattinson, Lillian Raffetto and Sally Sandoval.
LOOKING AHEAD
Sunday's game is the team's first of four consecutive road games to open the fall. Next up, the Green will travel to Tennessee to face Vanderbilt on Friday, Sept. 4 before it's off to Memphis two days later to play the Tigers.
