THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's hockey team plays host to conference foes Clarkson and St. Lawrence this weekend at Thompson Arena with both puck drops set for 7:05 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green ended Holy Cross' nine-game unbeaten streak with a 5-2 win Sunday afternoon in Hanover. The 8-0-1 stretch by the Crusaders had been the longest run without a loss in that time by any team in the nation before Dartmouth's three-goal win. Brett Patterson scored twice and Carl Hesler had a goal and two assists in the victory.
SCOUTING CLARKSON
A 3-1 victory at home on Tuesday night against rival St. Lawrence helped the Golden Knights to their first conference win of the season. Clarkson had been 0-5-2 against other ECAC Hockey teams prior to the victory and still remain 12th in the league standings with four points so far. However, the team is just two points out of eighth place where Dartmouth currently sits. Overall, the Golden Knights are 9-9-2 thanks to an 8-4-0 non-league schedule. Sophomore Sam Vigneault has a team-high eight goals, eight assists and 16 points.
AGAINST THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
These two split the season series against one another in 2014-15 with the road team winning each time. Clarkson claimed a 4-2 win in Hanover on Jan. 17 before Eric Neiley's OT winner on Feb. 20 in Potsdam gave the Green a 3-2 triumph.
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE
The Saints are 18th in this week's USCHO national poll, but three straight losses and just two wins in their last six games have them reeling. After being swept at home this past weekend by Northeastern, St. Lawrence then dropped the first game of the Route 11 Rivalry Tuesday in Potsdam to fall to 10-8-2 overall this season and 4-3-1 in ECAC Hockey contests (fifth). Canaan native and junior defenseman Gavin Bayreuther leads the team with eight assists and 14 points while sharing the top mark for goals with six alongside Dartmouth transfer Brian Ward and sophomore Mike Marnell.
AGAINST THE SAINTS
For the first time since the 2006-07 campaign, SLU swept Dartmouth in a season series last year. The Saints narrowly edged Dartmouth in Hanover in January, 3-2, before a 6-3 win at Appleton Arena on their Senior Night gave the Saints the No. 2 seed in the postseason tournament.
CAREER DAYS
Against Holy Cross, Patterson's two first-period goals gave the senior from Minnesota his first-career multi-goal game. Hesler set new career highs with two assists and three points in the game, while Geoff Ferguson notched the first multi-point contest of his career with a pair of helpers in the win.

BETWEEN THE PIPES
Since taking over the starter's role, senior goaltender Charles Grant has been outstanding. In four starts since the beginning of the month, the Nova Scotia native has a 1.01 goals against average and a .960 save percentage to go along with a shutout and a 3-1-0 mark. His 34 saves against Holy Cross were a season-best figure for Grant.
PENALTY KILL
The Dartmouth penalty kill has been perfect in 2016 after another 2-for-2 day against Holy Cross. Since the start of January, the Big Green are 9-for-9 on the kill, including both opportunities against Robert Morris — the top power-play team in the nation this season.
GOAL DIFFERENTIAL
In keeping with the theme of strong figures since the start of 2016, the Big Green are a plus-nine in goal differential in the four games this month. That figure stems from two three-goal wins (Merrimack and Holy Cross), a four-goal victory (RMU) as well as a 1-0 loss (at Vermont) and is the best in ECAC Hockey in that time.
GOOD TO BE HOME
Dartmouth has played much better at home in six games than in its nine road contests. The Green and White are averaging 3.67 goals for at Thompson Arena, while just 1.44 in the tilts outside of Hanover. They're also allowing nearly one goal less per game at home (2.83) than on the road (3.56). The most important stat is Dartmouth's 4-2 record in its own rink as opposed to a 2-6-1 mark away from it.
TOUGH ROAD
Despite having a sub .500 record, the Big Green are not far back in the national picture thanks to an impressive schedule this season. As it stands now, Dartmouth has the fourth-toughest schedule in the nation behind only travel-partner Harvard, Minnesota and Boston University. That being said, the Green are tied for 24th in the Pairwise ·the metric used to determine the at-large teams who make the NCAA Tournament and their seeding).
MULTI-POINTS
With Patterson, Hesler and Ferguson all notching multi-point efforts against Holy Cross, it marked the second-best game in terms of the number of Dartmouth players to register more than one point in a game this season. Four players had more than a single point in Dartmouth's 7-3 home win against Brown in early November. Interestingly enough, only Nick Bligh has more than one multi-point game this season, a feat he accomplished four times before sustaining his injury.
WHAT'S AHEAD?
The Big Green head back out on the road for a pair of games in Central New York next weekend as they take on Colgate and No. 8 Cornell in a pair of league tilts.
