ALBANY, N.Y. – Dartmouth's Jack Barre was named the ECAC Hockey men's player of the week the league office announced Tuesday.
For the second time in his career, Barre was tabbed as the league's top player in a week's span, this time for his stellar play in a Big Green home sweep of Clarkson and No. 18 St. Lawrence this past weekend.
The senior and Fairfield, Connecticut, native started the weekend with a career-high three assists in Dartmouth's 5-2 win over Clarkson Friday evening.
His lone shot of the weekend proved to be key as it stood as the game winner Saturday night in the Green's 4-2 victory against the 18th-ranked Saints at Thompson Arena. Barre also made an outstanding individual effort to get the puck out of the defensive zone in the final seconds of the third period and make a diving centering pass to captain Brad Schierhorn for the empty-net goal to seal things.
For his efforts against the Golden Knights and Saints, Barre led all ECAC Hockey players in points (5), assists (4) and plus/minus (+4).
Barre was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week Dec. 16, 2014, his only other individual honor from the conference office in his career.
The Big Green return to action this weekend on the road at No. 10 Cornell on Friday and at Colgate Saturday night.
