Penn Quakers (7-3-1, 1-2-0 Ivy)
Date: – Saturday, October 15, 4 p.m.
Location: Hanover, N.H. – Burnham Field
SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's soccer team concludes its two-game homestand with Penn for the team's annual Pink Game on Saturday at Burnham Field.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Penn heads into Saturday's contest having won three of its last four games. Most recently the Quakers won a dominant 4-0 match against Delaware State on Oct. 11. In its Ivy League opener, Penn defeated Cornell 4-0, before falling 1-0 last weekend to Columbia in overtime. As a team, the Quakers have scored 25 goals, six of which have come from Emma Loving, who is second on the team in points with 12. In goal, Kitty Qu has seen most of the action, surrendering just five goals with 24 saves.
LAST TIME AGAINST PENN
On Oct. 17, 2015 the Big Green and Penn played to a 1-1, double overtime draw. With 18 seconds remaining in regulation, Jill Dayneka headed in the game tying score to force overtime. Following two power outages in the second half that postponed the completion of the game, the Quakers controlled the action in the first overtime period, taking two shots and one corner kick to Dartmouth's zero. In the second 10-minute period, Penn took one shot while Brittany Champagne had two corner kicks to end the game.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 1-0 loss to Yale last weekend at home. Dartmouth did a decent job keeping the ball in the attacking end, limiting the Bulldogs' chances to get something going on offense. With about 12 minutes to play in the first half, Yale was awarded three corner kicks in a 2 to 3-minute span, but the Big Green defense held and did not allow a score. The Bulldogs eventually broke the game open in the 72nd minute when Noelle Higginson scored her first collegiate goal. Hannah Coy hit Higginson with a pass that Higginson buried in the upper right corner of the net from about 18 yards out.
THINK PINK
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this Saturday's match will be the Big Green's annual Pink Game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of awareness as Dartmouth will also don pink sweatbands on the field. Pink silicone bracelets will be distributed at the ticket window for free prior to kickoff, while supplies last.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The Green and White are led by Holly Patterson and Hayley Snyder, who are both entering their final seasons in Hanover. Last year, Patterson started all 13 games played and took 13 shots. As a junior, Snyder started 15 games and took four shots.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Dartmouth's senior goaltender, Cousineau, has had a solid final season in Hanover. The Altadena, California native is third in the Ivy League in save percentage (.860) and second in saves (43).
GETTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
The Big Green freshmen have been solid contributors on the offensive side of the ball in the early going of the 2016 season. Charlotte Esty leads the team with three goals and eight points, while Zoe Enright and Alyssa Neuberger each have one goal apiece.
DEFENSE COMES UP BIG
The Big Green's defense has come up big so far in 2016. Dartmouth is ranked No. 26 in the nation with a .629 goals-against-average.
