SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's soccer team returns home to Burnham Field on Saturday to take on Yale at 4 p.m.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale comes into Saturday's match after falling to Harvard, 2-1 in Cambridge. The Bulldogs opened their Ivy League slate with a, 1-1, draw against Princeton at home on Sept. 24. Aerial Chavarin leads the Bulldogs' offense with eight goals and 19 points through 11 games. She was also named Ivy League Rookie of the Week twice on Aug. 29 and Sept. 26. Michelle Alozie has also performed well for Yale, leading the team with four assists, good for a five-way tie for first in the Ivy League. In goal, Jane Buckley and Alyssa Fagel have split keeper duties, as Buckley has played in nine games with three starts, while Fagel has started five of 11 games played.
LAST TIME AGAINST YALE
On Oct. 10, 2015, Keri Cavallo scored in the 47th minute to give Yale a 1-0 victory over the Big Green. A scramble in front of the net gave the ball to Sofia Griffs, who tapped it to Cavallo to put in. In the last 30 minutes of action, Dartmouth fought hard in an attempt to tie the score, taking five shots to Yale's zero.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 2-0 loss to Princeton in the opening game of conference play last Saturday in New Jersey. The Tigers scored two goals in the game's opening seven minutes and held on to that lead for the remaining 83 minutes. Princeton's first goal came when Mimi Asom crossed a pass over to the Tigers' leading goal scorer, Tyler Lussi. With Abby Givens waiting in the box, Lussi sent a cross over to Givens, who buried a shot on net. Just two minutes later, Princeton added to its lead on a header from Lussi. Jesse McDonough lined up for a free kick near midfield and found Lussi in the box for the final tally of the afternoon.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The Green and White are led by Holly Patterson and Hayley Snyder, who are both entering their final seasons in Hanover. Last year, Patterson started all 13 games played and took 13 shots. As a junior, Snyder started 15 games and took four shots.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Dartmouth's senior goaltender, Cousineau, has had a solid start to her final season in Hanover. The Altadena, California native is third in the Ivy League in save percentage (.872) and second in saves (41).
GETTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
The Big Green freshmen have been solid contributors on the offensive side of the ball in the early going of the 2016 season. Charlotte Esty leads the team with three goals and eight points, while Zoe Enright and Alyssa Neuberger each have one goal apiece.
DEFENSE COMES UP BIG
The Big Green's defense has come up big so far in 2016. Dartmouth is ranked No. 20 in the nation with a .592 goals-against-average.
