TUESDAY GAME
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team wraps up a three-game road trip at Boston College on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference tilt. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Newton Campus Lacrosse Field.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green fell, 12-5, in Ithaca on Saturday afternoon against Cornell. The Big Red continued their torrid 2016 season by improving to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in Ivy games with the result. Dartmouth got goals from five different players in the loss with Taryn Deck's three points (1 goal, 2 assists) leading the visitors in scoring.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
- The Eagles are currently 7-6 overall this season. Included in that figure is a 3-1 mark at home in 2016 as Boston College has played nine of its 13 games away from the confines of its campus field. Leading the team is Sarah Mannelly and her 43 points. Her 24 goals are tied for the most on BC's roster with Kate Weeks, however Mannelly's 19 assists are also the top figure, while Weeks doesn't have a single assist to her credit yet. In goal, it has been Zoe Ochoa's job from the start, boasting a 9.95 goals against average and a .388 save percentage.
- In their last five, the Eagles are just 2-3. However, a game against Yale — a 15-11 win — was the only contest against an unranked opponent in that stretch. BC's other win was a 13-8 triumph at home against third-ranked Syracuse on Mar. 19. The losses have come against No. 3 North Carolina (13-12), at No. 15 Virginia (15-14) and at No. 15 Duke (12-8). Mannelly leads in total scoring with 18 points (9g/9a) in that time, while Weeks has amassed 13 goals in that stretch.
AGAINST THE EAGLES
Dartmouth is 19-0 all-time against Boston College dating back to the 1985 season. A regular opponent in the 1990s, these two have only met four times since 2000, including an NCAA Tournament matchup in the 2013 first round. That national postseason contest was the last time the programs met.
ON THE ROAD
The Green and White are 0-5 this season in true road games. In contrast, the team is 4-0 in contests played in Hanover and 1-0 when on a neutral site.
STILL UP THERE
Despite being held without a goal against Cornell, senior Jaclyn Leto's 35 goals still lead all Ivy League players, while her 3.89 goals per game average ranks fourth nationally.
NEEDS TO BE BETTER
In each of their last two Ivy games, the Big Green have posted a season high in turnovers, committing 17 in each.
POSSESSION BATTLE
Tuesday's game also marks a meeting of two of the best teams in terms of draw controls per game. Dartmouth has been solid all season and continues to lead the Ivy League at 12.33 per game, good for 33rd in the nation. The Eagles are 12th nationally at 13.75 per game, a figure that is actually fifth amongst ACC teams.
AGAINST THE ACC/AGAINST THE IVY LEAGUE
For Dartmouth, Tuesday marks the first game against an ACC opponent since it played the Eagles in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Although the Green took on Syracuse in the next round, the Orange were still in the Big East at the time. On the other hand, BC has three Ivy teams on its slate this season: a 15-11 win at Yale with games against Dartmouth and Harvard (April 20) still remaining.
