HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's soccer head coach Ron Rainey announced the winners of the Big Green's post season awards at the team's annual banquet at the Hanover Inn.
Freshman Remy Borinsky took home the Larry Garrity Award, which was established in 1995 in honor of a faithful Dartmouth fan, this award is presented to the most outstanding first-year player, as selected by her teammates. Borinsky had solid rookie campaign in Hanover after she earned Second Team All-Ivy honors, scoring a goal and five points in 2015.
After capping off four great years with the Big Green, senior Lucielle Kozlov was awarded the Wally Bell Award. This honor was established in 2002 in memory of one of the team's most faithful fans, Wally Bell, father of Gretchen Bell '01, who will always be remembered by the program for his caring, generosity, kindness and support. The award is presented to the player, who in the opinion of her teammates, represents the true meaning of being a teammate on and off the field.
Kozlov, a Second Team All-Ivy recipient, was the team's leading goal scorer with 11 goals and 24 points, finishing her career with 21 goals good for seventh on the school's all-time goals list.
For her efforts this season, Kozlov was also given the Lucinda Fernald Cup. This award was established in 1984 in honor of the first captain of the women's varsity soccer team by a gift from the Edward Tuck '50 family. It is presented to the player who best displays ability, leadership, sportsmanship, enthusiasm and dedication to the Dartmouth women's soccer program, as selected by the coaching staff.
Senior Corey Delaney took home the Keith Kurowski Award, which was established in memory of a true soccer fan and it is presented to a player whose teammates felt displayed Kurowski's same courage and enthusiasm despite great adversity. A First Team All-Ivy selection in 2013, Delaney finished her career with 12 goals and 37 points.
After being named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, senior Jackie Friedman was named the Big Green's Player of the Year. This award is presented to the player, who in the opinion of both her teammates and the coaches, was the most valuable on the field. Friedman tallied four points this season and was a key member of a Dartmouth defensive front that allowed just 11 goals. At the conclusion of her final year in Hanover, she was named to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team and NEWISA First Team.
In addition to celebrating last season's success, the Big Green are already preparing for the 2016 season. Dartmouth scrimmaged New Hampshire and Vermont in Durham this spring, where the Big Green prevailed 1-0 in each contest. In Dartmouth's most recent scrimmage, the Big Green defeated UMass Amherst 3-1.
