FRIDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's soccer team kicks off the 2016 season by hosting Marist on Friday at 1 p.m. on Burnham Field.
SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
Marist comes into the season with one game under its belt, after the Red Foxes opened their season with a 4-2 victory over Vermont. Marist prevailed thanks in part to three goals from junior Camille Bowen for the fourth hat trick in program history. The Red Foxes were slated to finish fifth in the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll and finished third in the MAAC in 2015.
LAST TIME AGAINST MARIST
Friday's contest will be just the third time the Big Green has met Marist on the pitch. Dartmouth holds a 2-0 series lead with its last victory coming last season, a 2-0 win with goals by Lucille Kozlov and Corey Delaney.
WE'RE NO. 1
With their contest on Friday, the Big Green are not only the first Dartmouth team in action in 2016-17, but also the first Ivy League team to see action on the field this season.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The Green and White are led by Holly Patterson and Hayley Snyder, who are both entering their final seasons in Hanover. Last year, Patterson started in all 13 games played and took 13 shots. As a junior, Snyder started 15 games and took four shots.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Dartmouth will return its starting goaltender, Casey Cousineau who started all 14 games she played in last season. The Altadena, California native made 51 saves, the fifth most of any keeper in the Ivy League.
CLASS OF 2020
In addition to the returning players, seven freshmen will make their collegiate debut. Joining the Big Green this season are Zoe Boocock, Charlotte Esty, Zoe Enright, Hayley Soriano, Lorna McElrath, Mollie McGorisk and Alyssa Neuberger.
