THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES
After opening the season 2-0 for the first time since 2005, the Dartmouth women's soccer team will take part in the Deacon Challenge Tournament, with games against Wake Forest and Gardner Webb.
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
Wake Forest is also undefeated to start the season and is coming off a 3-0, victory over UNC Greensboro, where the Demon Deacons scored a trio of goals in the second half. Wake Forest was picked to finish ninth in the 14-member ACC preseason coaches poll. Senior Sara Teegarden was named to the preseason All-ACC Team and has one goal and one assist thus far in 2016. Junior defender, Maddie Huster has been versatile on both sides of the ball, leading the Demon Deacons with four goals and four assists.
SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
Gardner Webb enters Sunday's match with an 0-2-2 record, dropping its first two games at home to Troy and Davidson. The Runnin' Bulldogs recently tied South Carolina Upstate 0-0 and have only netted two goals through four games. Gardner Webb was tabbed to finish eighth in the 10-member Big South conference, but it returns eight starters from 2015.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a dominant 3-0 win over Iona last Sunday at Burnham Field. Dartmouth scored twice in the first half before adding an insurance goal in the second in a game where the Big Green outshot their opponent 18-5.
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
This will be the first time Dartmouth has faced Wake Forest or Gardner Webb in program history.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The Green and White are led by Holly Patterson and Hayley Snyder, who are both entering their final seasons in Hanover. Last year, Patterson started in all 13 games played, took 13 shots and scored her first goal of the season last weekend against the Gaels.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Dartmouth's senior goalkeeper, Casey Cousineau, had a solid start to her final season in Hanover with two shutout victories in the Big Green's opening weekend. Last season, the Altadena, California, native made 51 saves, the fifth most of any keeper in the Ivy League.
OFF TO A GOOD START
Two of Dartmouth's freshmen had a great debut at Burnham Field last weekend. Alyssa Neuberger scored her first career goal in double overtime to propel the Big Green past Marist. Last Sunday, Charlotte Esty found the back of the net for the first time with a first half tally against Iona.
