Vermont Catamounts (5-2-1, 0-0-0 America East)
Date: – Tuesday, September 20, 7 p.m.
Location: Burlington, Vt. – Virtue Field
TUESDAY'S GAME
After recording a dominant, 3-1 victory over Albany last Friday, the Dartmouth women's soccer team travels to twin state rival, Vermont on Tuesday.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont heads into Tuesday's matchup with a three-game win streak after the Catamount recently defeated Charleston Southern, 3-1, in South Carolina. Vermont also took down Ivy League foe Yale 2-1 at home on Sept. 11. As a team, the Catamounts have scored 13 goals this season, five of which have come off the foot of freshman Julia Smith. Smith also leads her team with 10 points on the year. In goal, Coco Speckmaier has posted a 5-2-1 record with three shutouts and 40 saves.
LAST TIME AGAINST VERMONT
On Sept. 13, 2015 the Big Green took down Vermont, 6-0 after Dartmouth scored five goals in the second half in 17 minutes. Lucille Kozlov, Meredith Gurnee and Jessica Lukas each scored two goals apiece to propel the Big Green to victory. Dartmouth also outshot the Catamounts by a 12-0 margin in the second stanza, as the Green's goalkeepers, Casey Cousineau and Katie Fuhs did not need to made a single save in the contest to split the shutout.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth is coming off one of its best offensive games of the season after scoring three goals against the Great Danes. Early in the 41st minute, Ribi took a bad angle shot that bounced off the far goal post and into the net for her first goal of the season, putting her team ahead, 1-0. After the halftime break, the Big Green picked up right where they left off in the second half with two goals in a four-minute span. Brittany Champagne scored her first of the season in the 45th minute when she fired as shot that sailed over the keeper's head. Remy Borinsky added an insurance goal when she buried a shot in the bottom left corner of the goal from about 18 yards out.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The Green and White are led by Holly Patterson and Hayley Snyder, who are both entering their final seasons in Hanover. Last year, Patterson started in all 13 games played and took 13 shots. As a junior, Snyder started 15 games and took four shots.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Dartmouth's senior goaltender, Cousineau, has had a solid start to her final season in Hanover. The Altadena, California native is second in the Ivy League in save percentage (.897) and has allowed just one goal in three games.
GETTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
The Big Green freshmen have been solid contributors on the offensive side of the ball in the early going of the 2016 season. Charlotte Esty leads the team with three goals, while Zoe Enright and Alyssa Neuberger each have one goal apiece.
