SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's soccer team continues its Ivy League slate with defending champion Princeton on Oct. 1 in New Jersey.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton opened Ancient Eight play with a 1-1 draw against Yale on Sept. 24. The Tigers found success quickly in 2016, winning their first six games of the season. Princeton's only loss this year was a 3-0 decision to the second-ranked team in the nation at the time, West Virginia. Last season's Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, Tyler Lussi leads her team with eight goals and 19 points. In goal Natalie Grossi has made 32 saves with a 0.88 goals-against-average.
LAST TIME AGAINST PRINCETON
On Oct. 3, 2015, the Big Green lost a heartbreaker in overtime to the Tigers at home. Princeton scored in the 95th minute for the 3-2 victory at Burnham Field. Brittany Champagne connected with Jill Dayneka twice for Dartmouth's two scores, which were headed in by Dayneka. After scoring first in the 13th minute, the Tigers tied the game in the 46th minute to force overtime. Both Princeton goals came off the foot of Mimi Asom.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are coming off a 1-0 loss to Brown in the opening game of conference play last Sunday. Dartmouth ran into a solid goalkeeper in the Bears' Christine Etzel, who has only surrendered one goal all season. On the other side of the field Big Green senior goalkeeper, Casey Cousineau, kept Dartmouth in the contest as she finished the day with five saves through 90 minutes. With just two minutes before the halftime whistle, Brown got on the scoreboard when Kate Maher kicked in a loose ball that nearly went out of play over the crossbar for the only goal of the game.
AYE AYE CAPTAIN
The Green and White are led by Holly Patterson and Hayley Snyder, who are both entering their final seasons in Hanover. Last year, Patterson started all 13 games played and took 13 shots. As a junior, Snyder started 15 games and took four shots.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Dartmouth's senior goaltender, Cousineau, has had a solid start to her final season in Hanover. The Altadena, California native is second in the Ivy League in save percentage (.902), saves (37) and has allowed just four goals in nine games this year.
GETTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
The Big Green freshmen have been solid contributors on the offensive side of the ball in the early going of the 2016 season. Charlotte Esty leads the team with three goals and eight points, while Zoe Enright and Alyssa Neuberger each have one goal apiece.
