HANOVER, N.H. – The ninth-ranked Dartmouth men's squash team defeated No. 16 Middlebury, 9-0 at the Berry Squash Courts on Sunday afternoon.
With the victory, the Big Green improve to 4-4 overall while the Panthers fall to 7-6.
It was a solid performance overall for Dartmouth with wins throughout the afternoon. Freshman Brandon De Otaduy played the match of the day, winning a back and forth contest. He won the first before falling behind, two games to one. De Otaduy, played a strong forth game to break even, before digging deep to win the fifth in extra points.
Juniors Alvin Heumann and Jack Harvey both got off to a slow start, dropping the first games of their matches before bouncing back to take the next three games. Harvey closed out his match comfortably, while Heumann took the forth game in extra points.
Sophomores Sam Epley and Matt Giegerich both won their matches in four games after quick starts. Seniors Glen Brickman and Nick Harrington, junior Brian Giegerich and freshman Carson Spahr, all won their matches in straight games. Last year's
Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Carson Spahr, made quick work of his opponent with a dominant three-game win.
Dartmouth returns to action next weekend when the Big Green travel to Drexel at 12 p.m.
