WEDNESDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team will take on Siena for the first time in program history on Wednesday afternoon in Loudonville, New York.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Big Green fell to No. 5 Princeton, 18-8, last Saturday.
- The Tigers raced out to an 8-0 lead before Courtney Weisse scored the first Dartmouth goal of the afternoon.
- A trio of players for the Big Green managed to score a pair of goals each as Kathryn Giroux, Kierra Sweeney and Cara DePippo all found the back of the net twice in the game.
- Giroux had a game-high six draw controls.
- Goalkeeper Kiera Vrindten had eight saves in the loss.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
- Siena hosts Wednesday's game with a 1-7 overall record.
- The Saints have played just two home games to this point, sporting a 1-1 record in those contests. The lone win of the season was a home victory against visiting Vermont on Mar. 1 as the hosts came away with a 12-10 triumph.
- Since that win, the Saints have found themselves losers of four in a row with a game against UMass Lowell canceled during that stretch.
- Michelle Schwartz leads the team in goals (14), assists (8) and points (22).
- Sammy Horton has been the lone goalkeeper this season, playing all 480 minutes in the circle and boasting a .408 save percentage and 15.66 goals against average.
- Freshman midfielder Alexis Deakan was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Monday, her second such honor of 2017.
AGAINST SIENA
- This is the first meeting ever between the two programs.
- Siena joins Binghamton as the second of two teams to play Dartmouth for the first time in 2017.
LOOKING TO SNAP A STREAK
After starting the season 4-0, the Big Green have lost three straight and will look to snap that skid Wednesday.
AWAY FROM HOME
Dartmouth is 3-1 away from Hanover this season with wins against UMass Lowell (11-9), New Hampshire (18-8) and Boston University (19-7).
TRADE OFF
DePippo overtook Weiss for the team lead in scoring with 24 points on 17 goals and seven assists. Her seven assists are tied with Kierra Sweeney for the most of any Dartmouth player this season as well.
19 GOALS AND COUNTING
Weisse's game-opening tally against Princeton was her team-leading 19th goal of the season. Only Weiss (19), DePippo (17), Sweeney (13) and Elizabeth Mastrio (13) have reached the teens in goals scored this year.
PICK IT UP AND GO
- Sophomore Kathryn Giroux is currently third in the Ivy League with 40 draw controls, trailing only Harvard's Maeve McMahon (42) and Izzy Nixon (41) of Yale, despite playing two fewer games than McMahon and one less than Nixon.
- Giroux's 5.71 draws per game rank 15th in all of Division I.
- The 40 draw controls through seven games is all the more impressive by the fact that it already is one shy of 10th all-time by a Big Green player in a single season.
