NEW YORK, N.Y. – Dartmouth men's soccer fell, 1-0, in the fifth minute of overtime Friday night at Columbia in an evenly matched, hard fought game.
Dartmouth falls to 4-5-5 and 1-1-2 in the Ivy League, while Columbia improves to 6-4-1 and 3-1-0 in the conference. For the Big Green, it was their seventh overtime in its last eight contests.

Christopher Palacios was tested early in the fifth minute but picked up his first of five saves in the fifth minute. Dartmouth had opportunities of its own towards the middle of the first half,
Yima Asom fired a shot that went wide in the 24th minute. A minute later, the Big Green earned their first corner kick of the match and set up
Jonny Nierenberg, who's header was off target.
Palacios came through with a diving stop in the 30th minute to keep the game scoreless. Columbia's best chance was in the 40th minute when a shot by Andrew Stevens hit off the top of the crossbar.
Dawson McCartney's shot off a free kick in the final minute of the half curled and banged off the top-left corner of the post, sending the match into half time without a score.
The intensity level ramped up in the second, evident by a total of 16 shots between the teams in the half. Dartmouth and Columbia traded shots in the opening minutes followed by the Big Green having shots on goal by
Tiger Graham and Asom in the 65th and 68th minutes. With nine seconds remaining in regulation, Columbia let loose one more shot but it was denied by Palacios with a diving stop, sending the match to overtime.
Sebastian Gunbeyi scored his first goal of the season for the Lions in the 95th minute, propelling Columbia to the win. It was the first Ivy League loss for the Big Green since the 2016 season.
Dartmouth returns home to Burnham Field when they take on Harvard for homecoming at 4 p.m.
