CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Dartmouth lightweight rowing team started and completed its lone fall regatta at the 54th Head of the Charles Sunday in Cambridge, Mass. The men's lightweight 8+ came in eighth place, while the men's lightweight 4+ finished in 11th.

The Head of the Charles is the largest two-day regatta in the world, with 11,000 athletes rowing in over 1,900 boats in 61 events. It attracts roughly 400,000 spectators during regatta weekend.

The lightweight 8+ was coxed by
Liz Michel and stroked by
Max Marchiony. Dartmouth finished in eighth out of 15 boats (16:17.6). The Big Green passed the Riverside Boat Club in eighth (3:43.5), fell back to 10th at the weld Boathouse (9:09.8) and made a late push passing boats from Harvard and Delaware to move back into eighth at the Cambridge Boat Club (13:42.6) before finishing eighth. Iain Sheerin, the lightweight 4+ finished in 11th (19:12.3) out of 16 boats. Dartmouth was in 12th early on through the Riverside Boat Club (4:36.8), stayed in 12th at the Weld Boathouse (10:59.8) and the Cambridge Boat Club (16:19.3), before taking 11th down the stretch by passing a boat from Temple.

Dartmouth finishes its fall season and is back in action in the spring when they host Harvard and MIT on April 20.
