WEDNESDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team plays host to New Hampshire Wednesday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field in the 2018 home opener for the Big Green.
LAST TIME OUT
The 2018 season opener came on Saturday afternoon for Dartmouth with the team dropping a hard-fought 17-13 game on the road at No. 18 UMass. Elizabeth Mastrio led the team with six goals, while freshman Claire Marshall scored twice and had 11 draw controls in the contest.
SCOUTING UNH
• The Wildcats are 1-1 on the young season after a 14-2 home win to open the campaign on Feb. 10 against Sacred Heart and a 14-5 road loss at Harvard this past Saturday.
• Catherine Sexton leads UNH with seven points in the two games on a trio of goals and a team-high four assists.
• Anna Vogt has six goals, more than any other player on the roster, while Krissy Schafer is one back with five with each coming in the win over the Pioneers.
• In goal, it's been Kate Clancy for a majority of the 120 minutes of action so far this season. She has a 7.32 goals against average and a .409 save percentage in posting a 1-1 record thus far.
AGAINST UNH
• Dartmouth pushed its win streak over its in-state rival to six last season with an 18-8 win in Durham.
• The victory gives the Green and White a 25-16 edge in the 41 all-time games played between the Granite State foes and the 'W' in 21 of the last 22 meetings.
• An 8-7 game at halftime, Dartmouth rolled to the win in the 2017 meeting, scoring 10 of the game's final 11 goals in the second half. Courtney Weisse '17 scored three times, while Cara DePippo and Elizabeth Mastrio each had four.
MOST IN AN OPENER
• Claire Marshall's 11 draw controls at UMass was a Dartmouth record for a player in their collegiate debut.
• It wasn't too hard to figure that out since Kathryn Giroux was the only player in program history with 10 or more draw controls in a game prior to Marshall's 11.
• Giroux's 13 against Cornell remains the program record as well as the most ever in an Ivy League game.
6 (!) TO START!
• Mastrio set a new career high with six goals in Saturday's season opener.
• In scoring six goals, Mastrio's performance marked the 60th time in 46 years that a Dartmouth player hit that figure in a game and the first since Jaclyn Leto on March 27, 2016 against Penn.
• The six goals are also the most in a season opener since Leto dropped seven at UConn in the 2015 debut.
