HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's lacrosse head coach
Danielle Spencer was one of 27 players named to the U.S. Women's National Team roster for the 2018 Team USA Fall Classic.
Â
The exhibition game will be held at the US Lacrosse headquarters on Oct. 6 against James Madison, the 2018 NCAA Champion.
Â
Spencer is one of the 27 players named to the roster for the game that is an early measuring stick for who will be on the national team in 2021 when the US looks to defend its World Cup title from last year. Twelve members of that 2017 team that won gold were also named to the group representing the Stars and Stripes this fall.
Â
Finishing her second season at the helm of the Big Green, Spencer guided the team back to the Ivy League Tournament and postseason play for the first time since 2013 this past spring. Along the way, Dartmouth jumped back into the national rankings for the first time in five years as well, thanks in large part to a seven-game win streak that started in February and spanned through nearly the entire month of March.
Â
Spencer also remains one of the top players in the nation, having played attack for the Upstate Pride of the Women's Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) this past summer. She was tied for third in the league, averaging 4.0 goals per game, while also leading the league with 8.0 draw controls per contest.
