HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's hockey dropped its final preseason game to McGill by a score of 6-0 on Sunday.
Sophomore
Gabby Billing and freshman
Catherine Trevors almost made it to double-digit attempts, taking nine shots apiece. Fellow rookie
Hannah Humphreys ended the game with 18 saves.
McGill controlled the start of the first period, getting on the board at 2:23. Dartmouth found its stride and almost evened the Martlets in shots, but it was the visitor that scored another goal 10 minutes later, taking that 2-0 lead into the second. Humphreys had nine saves, while McGill's Amanda Hawden stopped 10.
The Big Green dominated with a 17-8 shot advantage in the second, but could not get past Hawden, who had a number of huge saves. The Martlets scored two more goals in the last six minutes to make it a 4-0 game.
Dartmouth had some great chances in the fourth, outshooting McGill, 9-5. Like the two periods before, the Martlets netted another two tallies. The Green ended up outshooting the visitors, 36-24.
Dartmouth will officially open the 2019-20 season on Friday, Oct. 25 when it hosts Harvard.
