Shea, Winstanley, Kawakami and MacFarlane were awarded by the conference
HANOVER, N.H. – Four members of the Dartmouth women's soccer team were named All-Ivy League on Wednesday as announced by the conference office.
Junior Bonnie Shea was selected as a member of the first team, while freshman Allie Winstanley was tabbed as a second team performer. Juniors Erin Kawakami and Lorna MacFarlane both earned honorable mention honors.
Shea has now collected an Ivy League postseason award in each of her three seasons and takes home her second consecutive first team accolade. From Atlanta, Ga., Shea started all 15 matches she played and was an important piece in the Big Green allowing the second fewest goals in the conference (13). Shea helped the team offensively as well with a goal and an assist in Dartmouth's final game against Cornell.
Winstanley was named to the second team after having the best offensive season of any Dartmouth first-year in program history. She set freshmen records with 10 goals and 25 points, both of which led the Ivy League. She also dished out five assists and had three game-winning goals, which tied the conference lead. From Concord, Mass., Winstanley recorded a hat trick against Merrimack on Oct. 8 and had four games of three or more points.
Kakawami earned an honorable mention selection for the second consecutive year, giving her a conference award in each of her three seasons. From Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., Kawakami finished the year with three goals and one assist, doing most of her damage against Ivy opponents. She scored goals against Brown and Yale and had an assist in a 5-1 win over Cornell.
MacFarlane collects her first Ivy League postseason award with an honorable mention selection after a strong all-around season for the Big Green. From Wynnewood, Pa., MacFarlane had one goal and two assists on the year. She commanded the midfield with stellar defense all season and gave her team scoring chances on the offensive end.
