HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team will once again host its annual toy drive for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock on Dec. 6-7 against Colgate and Cornell.
Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation that will be collected by members of the team on the concourse prior to as well as during the early stages of the game against both the Raiders and Big Red. There will also be a collection at the team's annual Skate with the Big Green that will be held at Thompson Arena at noon on Sunday, Dec. 8.
This year, any toy donation made during the Colgate and Cornell games will include a ticket voucher for admission to the Dartmouth home game against Bentley on Thursday, Dec. 12.
As has become tradition, donations of new, unwrapped toys will be delivered to the hospital by the members of the team, unpacked and handed out to children. One of the most memorable days of the year, this annual event is dependent largely on the generosity of fans.
CHaD has provided a list of items they are looking for and are often requested by patients. It moves away from the idea of just providing toys to those in their care, but items that serve a purpose on a daily basis or can engage better than traditional toys.
•   Winter clothing: long sleeve shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, socks, slippers
•   Lego Kits
•   Infant toys: cause and effect toys, rattles etc.
•   Teen items: handheld games, self-care items, gift cards, teen craft kits
•   New release DVDs
•   Hair Ties
•   Fubbles (no spill bubbles)
•   Noise-canceling headphones
•   Play Doh
•   Rory's Story Cubes
•   Teen board games
•   View Master set
•   Baby doll accessories like a baby cradle, baby highchair (all plastic)
•   Paint by sticker books
•   Fisher Price Little People Princesses and accessories
•   Look and Find books
Staff members have also expressed a need for items to be used in their wrapping station such as: wrapping paper, tissue paper, bows, gift bags and tags.
These are suggestions from those who work with the kids on a daily basis. However, traditional toys are also still a very welcomed donation that will be collected by members of the team on the concourse throughout the evening.
For more information or if you are unable to make either game against Colgate or Cornell or Skate With the Big Green but would like to make a donation, please contact Patrick Salvas, associate director of varsity athletics communications at

Your generosity in making this event a success every year is very much appreciated by the Dartmouth men's hockey team and those at CHaD.
