Anna Luce posted the first double-double of the season for the Big Green
HANOVER, N.H. – Anna Luce posted 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Katie Douglas finished with a season-high 17 points on 4-of-8 from 3-point land as Dartmouth defeated New Hampshire, 66-47, Wednesday night at Leede Arena.
Annie McKenna was in double figures with 14 points and matched her career high with eight assists, and Paula Lenart finished with six points and a season-high 12 boards, including five on the offensive end. Elle Louie came away with six points, five rebounds and three assists.
The Big Green (6-4) led wire-to-wire and have now taken three-straight over the Wildcats (3-7) by an average of 18 points. Dartmouth also finishes the season 4-0 against opponents from the America East Conference.
"To be able to earn this championship we talked about what it means to be the Granite State and focusing on what our foundation and rocks are offensively and defensively," said Belle Koclanes, the Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 and Family Head Coach of Women's Basketball. "Our team defense was together to hold them to 47 points and our offense was generated by our defense. Really proud of the effort with everyone playing their roles to earn the win tonight."
Dartmouth lit it up from deep in the first quarter going 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Asha Taylor knocked down the first triple just 18 seconds into the game and the Big Green never looked back. Douglas then sunk two 3-pointers and McKenna hit one as the Big Green led, 18-11, after one.
The Big Green began the second on an 18-3 run over the first eight minutes. Luce turned it on by dropping six points and grabbing four rebounds and McKenna had five points and three assists in the quarter. Dartmouth used the big quarter to extend its lead to 38-21 at halftime.
Douglas upped the lead to 20 with a 3-pointer to start the third and Dartmouth looked to be in control. That was until UNH played its best basketball and outscored the Big Green, 20-11 in the remainder of the quarter, to trim its deficit to 52-41.
McKenna earned a layup to begin the fourth, jump-starting a 12-2 run over the first 6:44 of the final quarter, to increase the Dartmouth advantage to 64-43, its largest lead of the night. The Big Green kept up that pace and closed the game as Allie Harland dropped her first collegiate points with 21 seconds remaining.
Dartmouth plays its final game before the holiday break at Boston University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
