HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team was picked third in the 2019 Ivy League Preseason Poll as picked by a contingent of media members and league administrators and announced on Thursday afternoon.
Â
The Big Green were picked right where they finished the 2018 season behind Princeton and Penn. The Tigers garnered 12 first-place votes and boast 124 points with the Quakers earning the remaining four and posting 115 points in the poll.
Â
Dartmouth was next with 96 points before a large gap and fourth-place Cornell's 68 points.
Â
The Green and White had a resurgent season in 2018, getting back to the Ivy League Tournament for the first time since 2013. A massive second-half comeback saw Dartmouth climb back into contention against second-seeded Penn, but fell just short and ended the season in the conference semifinals.
Â
A strong and sizable core of returning players make Dartmouth one of the top teams in the Ancient Eight and nationally as the first Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Poll of 2019 has the team ranked 25th.
Â
The 2019 season gets underway for the 25th-ranked Big Green with a challenging two-game road trip to No. 7 Northwestern and Michigan on Feb. 15 and 17. Dartmouth's first home game of the season will come on Feb. 26 against No. 1 Boston College, a team that reached the national championship game in 2018.
