HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team will once again be supporting a toy drive for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth- Hitchcock (CHaD) in 2020.
Â
With no games on the docket for the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19, the event has moved entirely online.
Â
Staff members of the Child Life Department, who work closely with the kids on a daily basis, have provided two online wish lists through Amazon and Playopolis with items that are sent directly to CHaD.
Â
These items will be collected and distributed appropriately to kids in need of medical care during the holiday season.
Â
"Having the opportunity to visit CHaD every year is always such a great experience,"
Christian LeSueur '22 said. "Many of these kids are stuck in the unfortunate circumstance of spending their holidays in the hospital. From our perspective, we want to do everything we can to bring the holiday spirit to them.
Â
"Despite everything that's been thrown at these kids at such a young age, they're still smiling ear to ear, ready to show us a new toy or challenge us to a board game," LeSueur added. "It really is such a special part of the Dartmouth hockey tradition and one that I'll always remember."
Â
Though, LeSueur and his teammates don't have the opportunity to keep the tradition of the visit going this year, the important relationship between the Big Green and CHaD remains strong.
Â
In lieu of gifts from the wish lists, monetary donations can also be made to CHaD through their website, which plays a critical role in sustaining and advancing the many important programs.
Â
Your generosity in making this event a success every year is very much appreciated by the Dartmouth men's hockey team and those at CHaD.
