ROAD WEEKEND
Dartmouth heads to New York for its first full Ivy League weekend of the season. The Big Green start their road trip in the city against Columbia on Friday followed by a trip upstate to Ithaca for a Saturday meeting with Cornell.
FRIDAY NIGHT VS. BROWN
- A slow first quarter put the Big Green in a hole, and they were unable to dig themselves out of it last Friday.
- Dartmouth fell behind 19-9 after one and got its offense going for the rest of the game, but Brown shot 47.4% for the game and did not allow the Big Green to catch up.
- Annie McKenna nearly had a triple-double with 18 points, a career-high nine assists and seven rebounds to go along with two steals.
- Allie Harland finished with 12 points and sunk four 3-pointers off the bench.
- Katie Douglas and Asha Taylor each had eight points, Douglas added five rebounds.
- Elle Louie grabbed 10 boards with six points, three rebounds, three steals and a block.
- Brown's McKenna Dale scored a career-high 26 points with 11 rebounds, while Ashley Ducharme had a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double and Justine Gaziano had 19 points.
SATURDAY NIGHT VS. YALE
- Dartmouth played with more intensity against the Bulldogs but ended up falling, 67-47.
- The Big Green erased a nine-point deficit in the second quarter to even the score at 29 early in the third.
- Dartmouth's bench scored 28 points led by Anna Luce, who finished with a season-high 16 with a career-high four 3-pointers to lead the Big Green.
- Jimena Abejon contributed a career-high 10 points and two assists.
- Paula Lenart had a strong performance with eight points and eight rebounds.
- Yale's Camilla Emsbo scored a career-high 29 points with eight rebounds, while Elle Margaret Andrews and Roxy Barahman each had 14.
OFF THE BENCH
- Dartmouth's bench contributed 55 points against Brown and Yale last weekend.
- The Big Green bench scored 27 points against Brown led by Allie Harland's career-high 12.
- Veronica Kelly and Anna Luce each chipped in six points and Kealy Brown sank a triple.
- That game earned Harland her first career start against Yale.
- The bench then scored 28 points against the Bulldogs, compared to 19 for the starting five.
- Anna Luce scored 16 and Jimena Abejon added 10. Karina Mitchell chipped in two points.
ICE AT THE SUMMER OLYMPICS
- Isalys Quinones '19 and the Puerto Rican national team have qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
- It is the first time that Puerto Rico has qualified for the Olympic games.
- Puerto Rico defeated Brazil, 91-89, in overtime and got some help from Australia on the final day, who also beat Brazil, to officially advance Puerto Rico.
- Quinones, a former Dartmouth standout, started all three games of the tournament and averaged 9.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game
- She led her team with 17 points and grabbed three rebounds against France on the final day of the tournament.
- Women's basketball begins playing in the Olympics on July 26.
SCOUTING COLUMBIA
- Columbia started its season with a 10-4 record, but has since lost its last four out of five games, to enter Friday with an 11-8 record.
- The Lions are 2-4 in the Ivy League with wins over Cornell (76-66) and Brown (74-60).
- Columbia took Penn to overtime at the Palestra and fell 86-84.
- The Lions are the second-highest scoring team in the conference (70.1 ppg) but allow the second most points (65.5 ppg).
- Freshman Abbey Hsu leads Columbia in scoring (14.2 ppg), which is seventh in the Ivy League, and grabs 4.8 rpg.
- Sienna Durr averages 12.1 ppg and leads the team with 6.1 rpg.
- Mikayla Markham averages 6.4 ppg and leads the team with 3.7 apg.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE LIONS
- Dartmouth has dominated the all-time series against Columbia, going 57-16, dating back to 1977.
- Since 2010, the Big Green are 12-8 over the Lions.
- The Big Green have won the last four meetings.
SCOUTING CORNELL
- Cornell has had an up-and-down year so far and enters this weekend with a 9-9 record.
- The Big Red are 2-4 in the Ivy League with wins against Columbia (80-77 OT) and Brown (74-63).
- Cornell is fifth in the Ivy League in scoring (64.1 ppg) and is fourth in scoring defense (59.9 ppg).
- Laura Bagwell-Katalinich and Samantha Wildmann lead the Big Red in scoring (13.2 ppg). Bagwell-Katalinich leads the team in rebounding (7.4 rpg), while Wildmann pulls down 7.0 rpg.
- Shannon Mulroy averages 9.9 ppg and leads the Big Red with 2.8 apg.
- Cornell plays Harvard Friday night before meeting Dartmouth.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BIG RED
- Dartmouth has had success against Cornell, holding a 60-22 record over the Big Red, dating back to 1977.
- Since 2000, the Big Green hold a 26-15 advantage over Cornell, meaning Dartmouth only lost to Cornell seven times from 1977-99.
- Dartmouth went 16-2 from 2000-08 but are 10-13 from 2009-19.
