PRINCETON, N.J – The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team was picked third in the annual Ivy League Preseason Poll announced Thursday afternoon.
Â
The poll, conducted by media members and team representatives from around the Ancient Eight, tabbed Princeton and Penn in the top-two spots with the Big Green claiming third.

First-year head coach
Alex Frank inherited a team that is coming off its 13th Ivy League title in program history last season and a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time. Many of the team's top players at positions return in 2020, primed to make another run at the league crown.
Â
Princeton was picked first with 13 first-place votes and 125 points with Penn claiming second thanks to three first-place votes and 112 points. Dartmouth was next with 92 points, while Cornell's 79 points earned them fourth on the list to round out the predicted field of the conference postseason tournament.
Â
Brown (5th, 57), Harvard (6th, 48), Yale 7th, 36) and Columbia (8th, 27) rounded out the poll.
Â
The Big Green are not just one of the top teams in the Ivy League, but also a team on the rise on a national level. The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released its 2020 Division I National Preseason Poll just a week ago with a No. 22 ranking. Princeton (6th) and Penn (12th) also were featured in the national poll, making the Ancient Eight one of the most competitive and talented conferences in the country.
Â
The Green and White will start the 2020 campaign on Saturday, Feb. 15 at UMass before the home opener against Boston University on Feb. 22.
