HANOVER, N.H. – For the second time in three weeks, Dartmouth senior
Katie Bourque has been named the Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
The conference office announced the honor Monday after Bourque helped lead the Big Green to a 2-0 week with impressive home wins against No. 5 Florida and New Hampshire.
Â
In the surprising 13-9 victory on Tuesday over the Gators, Bourque scored four times and assisted on another as Dartmouth never trailed in the contest and defeated Florida for the first time in six all-time meetings.
Â
Against UNH on Saturday, Bourque was even better, notching a career-best six goals and posting seven points as the Big Green rolled to an 18-5 win. Her six goals pushed her career total to 98 goals, while her 133 points moved her into Dartmouth's top-20 scorers in program history.
Â
With 27 points in five games, Bourque is averaging nearly five and a half per game, a figure that is tied for 12th nationally. The 27 points are second best in the Ivy League so far in 2020.
Â
The New Jersey native now has two Ivy weekly awards and the US Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Week accolade from March 2 to her credit this season.
Â
But it's not just Bourque having a good season in Hanover as the entire Big Green team is pulling in the same direction, resulting in a 5-0 start and a jump in the polls. Dartmouth has moved into the top-10 in all three national rankings releases on the strength of the win against the Gators and the domination of the Wildcats.
Â
In the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll, Dartmouth moved into 10th. The
US Lacrosse Magazine rankings have the Green and White sixth, while
Inside Lacrosse ranked the team seventh in the latest announcement.
Â
Dartmouth is in the midst of its exams period and will return to competition Sunday at UAlbany at noon and then at Boston College on Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m.
