GLENDALE, Ariz. – It was announced Monday morning that former Dartmouth All-American and team captain Lee Stempniak '05 has joined the front office of the National Hockey League's Arizona Coyotes.
The team announced that Stempniak will be the club's new Hockey Data Strategist. The Coyotes' press release also states that they believe Stempniak to be the first former player to fill this position with an NHL club.
The West Seneca, New York, native will serve as a liaison between the Coyotes hockey operations/analytics department and the team's coaching staff.
Stempniak played 14 seasons and 911 games in the NHL, recording 203 goals and 266 assists for 469 points, all of which are records by a Dartmouth alum. During that time, he played 100 games with the Coyotes, tallying a 33-23-56 scoring line.
Second all-time in games played as a member of the Big Green with 135 from 2001-05, Stempniak's 151 career points (63-88-151) rank fourth in program history and the most of any player in the three decades that proceeded his arrival in Hanover.
