Dartmouth hosted Harvard at Scully-Fahey Field in the national title game
HANOVER, N.H. — "Big Green Classic" — a series of Dartmouth events from the past two years that are being streamed once again on ESPN+ — returns this week with the women's rugby NIRA Championship match between No. 1 Dartmouth and No. 2 Harvard from Nov. 18, 2018. The broadcast will be available on the Worldwide Leader in Sports' platform on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Big Green reached the championship tilt by defeating fourth-ranked Army West Point in the semifinals, which was played on lacrosse's Scully-Fahey Field due to several inches of snow, by a final of 26-7 two days earlier. Four different players — senior Karina Martinez, and freshmen Ariana Ramsey, Ale Ada and Emily Henrich — scored tries for Dartmouth with senior Camille Johnson adding a pair of conversions to account for the Big Green scoring. Five members of the team went on to earn NIRA All-America honors after the season, including Henrich and Johnson along with seniors Milla Anderson and Kat Ramage as well as sophomore Idia Ihensekhien.
Harvard handled Quinnipiac even more easily in the other semifinal by a 47-8 decision. While Dartmouth had scored a resounding 55-13 victory over the Crimson on the Big Green's home surface at Brophy Field back in September, Harvard had avenged the defeat in the Ivy Rugby Championship in Hanover in a tightly contested 12-3 match.
This is the ninth of 13 games that will be streamed on the ESPN+ platform this winter. Each of the events are available for viewing for 30 days after it airs with a subscription to the service. The complete schedule of events is listed below.
