Winter “Big Green Classic” Wraps with Men’s Basketball Taking On Penn

The home game against Penn from Feb. 21, 2020 will be on ESPN+ Friday night
HANOVER, N.H. — "Big Green Classic" — a series of Dartmouth events from the past two years that are being streamed once again on ESPN+ — concludes the winter season on Friday night with the men's basketball game against Penn originally played just over one year ago on Feb. 21, 2020. The broadcast will be available on the Worldwide Leader in Sports' platform tomorrow at 7 p.m.
The Big Green were coming off a home sweep of Columbia and Cornell and looking to continue the momentum against a Penn team that was 13-8 overall and 5-3 in the Ivy League. Just three weeks prior, the two squads had met at the Palestra with the Quakers winning a defensive struggle, 54-46. Chris Knight led the Dartmouth effort that evening with 12 points and eight rebounds, plus was in the midst of a season-ending tear in which he shot 69.8 percent from the floor while averaging 18.8 points a game over the final 10 games and twice was named Ivy League Player of the Week. He also scored the 1,000th point of his career in the previous contest in which the Green nipped Columbia at the buzzer, 65-63, on an Aaryn Rai bucket that capped a 9-0 run over the final 6:50 of the game.
Penn, meanwhile, had won six of its last seven games, including a 69-61 triumph over the eventual league champion Yale Bulldogs, and was just a game back in the league standings. Led by co-Player of the Year A.J. Brodeur and three others averaging in double figures, the Quakers were second in the league in scoring coming into the weekend tilt.
