Dartmouthsports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their winter seasons postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's senior … Joey Matthews from Columbia, Illinois, of the men's hockey team.
DartmouthSports.com: What is your favorite place on campus?
Joey Matthews: Thompson Arena because of the environment and being able to be around the guys.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
JM: Quin Foreman, because I would love to score goals.
DS: What has been your best on-ice memory thus far in your Dartmouth career?
JM: Beating Cornell a few times and the tennis ball game every year vs. Princeton.
DS: How is Hanover different or similar to where you grew up?
JM: I grew up in a smaller town with not many kids in my high school. So Dartmouth was a lot like home and being able to know everyone made it that much more special.
DS: Do you have a hobby or hidden talent people might not know about you?
JM: I love to go fishing. Luckily, I am able to do it a lot when I am at home.
DS: Do you have a nickname on your team? Who gave it to you and why?
JM: Matts or Mattsy… 'Matts' came from River Rymsha '18 when I was a freshman and 'Mattsy' was an ongoing joke because it was the name on my sticks.
DS: What are you going to miss most about Dartmouth after you graduate?
JM: The relationships I have built over my time at Dartmouth and the honor of wearing the Dartmouth jersey and representing the college.
