Sarah Leiby Named Dartmouth Women's Soccer Assistant Coach

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's soccer head coach Ron Rainey has announced the addition of assistant coach Sarah Leiby to his staff for the upcoming 2021 season.

Leiby joins Rainey on the Big Green's sideline this fall as Dartmouth returns to action after the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19.

A 2014 graduate of the University of Vermont, Leiby has built an impressive coaching resume in the short time since leaving Burlington. Most recently, she had been named the associate head coach at Saint Leo University in Florida, where she had worked as an assistant since 2019.

"Sarah will bring a combination of experience and enthusiasm that will positively add to the team culture," Rainey said. "We are excited to welcome her to the Upper Valley and Dartmouth!"

Leiby was instrumental in improving nearly every aspect of Saint Leo's program, from managing equipment, budgets, travel accommodations and compliance to helping implement new academic guidelines that saw the team's grade point average jump nearly half a point to 3.61 during her tenure.

It was also in 2019 that Leiby was tabbed as one of the nation's top 30 assistant coaches under 30 years old by United Soccer Coaches.

Prior to her time in the Sunshine State, Leiby was an assistant at Montana State in Billings from 2017-19, helping develop three all-league players and mentoring Amanda Hemmen, who would become the program's first two-time First Team Academic All-American.

Her first full-time foray into coaching came in 2016 when she joined the staff at Black Hills State in South Dakota for the inaugural season in program history.

Additionally, Leiby has coaching experience with Sporting Tampa Bay FC, the Billings United Soccer Club and the Montana Olympic Development Program and is involved in the United Soccer Coaches Women Coaches Advocacy Group's mentor program.

She holds both a United States Soccer Federation National 'C' and 'D' license and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Goalkeeping Level III diploma.

Leiby and the Big Green start the year with a scrimmage vs. Saint Rose on Aug. 21 before the 2021 regular season kicks off on Friday, Aug. 21 at home vs. Holy Cross.
