GLOUCESTER, Mass. – It was announced Monday afternoon that four members of the Dartmouth men's hockey team earned All-American Scholar honors from the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) for the 2020-21 academic year.
Senior
Justin Ferguson, sophomores
Tyler Campbell and
Sean Keohan and freshman
Ryan Lovett were all recognized for their achievements in the classroom during this most unusual last year.
Because of COVID-19, the AHCA adopted revised criteria for this year's honorees. To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.6 GPA for each semester, regardless of whether the school's hockey team was able to play this season or not. Old rules for the accolade required a player to appear in at least 40 percent of a team's games, but that was waved this year due to the circumstances of the pandemic and limitations for many programs across the country.
Ferguson is a geography major, while Campbell and Keohan will declare later this summer. As a freshman, Lovett has yet to declare his major.
For Ferguson, this marks his second time being honored as an All-American Scholar after also earning the distinction last year.
