Dartmouth (1-1) at Bryant (1-2)
Much like last weekend against Merrimack, it was slow going at the start of the opening quarter. It took almost five minutes before the Bulldogs opened scoring and, although Bryant seemed to be itching for another, tallies by Paul, Prince and
Nate Davis in a three-minute span put Dartmouth up by two. The home team scored with one second remaining to make it a 3-2 game heading to the second.
Â
Peter Rizzotti gave the Green their two-goal lead back less than two minutes into the second quarter, but the other team responded with two quick tallies, making it a 4-4 contest with 12:07 to go. Davis' second goal of the game had a ripple effect, leading the way for seconds by Prince and Paul. After Dartmouth's last goal with seven minutes remaining, all was quiet (minus the shots, which were 7-6 in the Big Green's favor), allowing the visitors to take a 7-4 edge into the intermission.
Â
Paul completed the hat trick early in the third quarter, giving Dartmouth an 8-4 lead. After 15 minutes of scoreless play, a trio of goals for Marc O'Rourke in two and a half minutes suddenly made this one a lot closer, but a man-up by McGill 36 seconds into the penalty and with 21 seconds to go gave the Big Green a little bit of breathing room (9-7).
Â
The teams traded goals in the fourth quarter, starting with yet another for Paul with 12:11 to go and with the extra man. The Bulldogs got back within two a few minutes later, but
Andrew Johnston's first of the season put Dartmouth back in the driver's seat. Bryant scored another with 49 ticks remaining and the Green held on for the win (11-9).
Â
Dartmouth will remain on the road next weekend when it travels to New York to face Siena.
