Maja Desmond Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week

HANOVER, N.H. – Freshman Maja Desmond of the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

This is the first career weekly honor for Desmond.

Desmond collects the award after having three ground balls and two caused turnovers for the Big Green in their 22-6 win over Columbia on Saturday. She also had nine draw controls.

For the season, Desmond leads the team with 13 caused turnovers and is second in ground balls (22) and draw controls (26). Among the Ivy League, she ranks fifth in caused turnovers per game (1.30) and seventh in ground balls per game (2.20).

Desmond and the rest of the Big Green squad look to carry their momentum from Saturday into their matchup with No. 12 Princeton on Saturday afternoon.
