HANOVER, N.H. —
Linda Cimino, Dartmouth's Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 and Family Head Coach of Women's Basketball, earned her first win with the Big Green thanks to a 65-41 victory over Keene State on Tuesday night at Leede Arena.
The Big Green improved to 1-2 on the season and Keene State remains at 1-2 as the contest was an exhibition for the Division III Owls.
"It feels good and I'm really excited to be here," said Cimino, following her first win on the Dartmouth sideline. "I'm proud of our team and I'm thankful for our players, staff and administration.
We didn't take very good care of the ball in the first half and that was a big point of emphasis at halftime, and we only had four turnovers in the second half. I'm proud we were able to build on that and take better care of the basketball."
Victoria Page led all scorers with 23 points, two shy of her career high, which was achieved during last season's road win over Monmouth.
Doreen Ariik grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds to help lead the Big Green to a 55-32 advantage on the boards. Page,
Cate MacDonald and
Carrington Washburn each had seven rebounds to bolster Dartmouth's dominant effort on the glass. The Big Green have now outrebounded their opponent in each of their three games this season.
Dartmouth held a 23-15 lead at halftime and gained some extra separation in the third quarter before pulling away in the fourth. Page scored 19 of her 23 in the second half. The Big Green, who led by double digits late in the second quarter, allowed the Owls to trim the lead to as little as five early in the third. Late third-quarter buckets from Page and
Sierra Carson helped Dartmouth regain a more comfortable double-digit lead entering the fourth.
In the fourth, the Big Green continued feeding the ball to Page, who accounted for the team's first eight points. A
Camryn Foltz 3-pointer, the first of her career, was one of the finishing touches on a lopsided final quarter in which Dartmouth outscored Keene State 24-11.
Following the victory, Dartmouth is out of action for more than a week as the Big Green are slated to travel to in-state rival New Hampshire on Sunday, Nov. 26. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+. The next chance to see the Big Green at Leede Arena will be Monday, Dec. 4 when they host UC Riverside at 2 p.m. Single-game and season tickets are available for purchase through the Dartmouth Athletics Ticket Office.
