HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth women's basketball assistant coach
Sarah Assante was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 list, which was announced by the organization on Monday morning. Assante joins
Jamie Insel and
Victoria Lux as the third Big Green assistant to earn Thirty Under 30 recognition.
"Thank you to the WBCA committee for this recognition," Assante said. "I am honored to have been selected to be part of this incredible group of individuals and congratulations to the other recipients."
The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program recognizes young up-and-coming women's basketball coaches at all levels of the game. Each recipient has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and professionalism.
"Sarah is so deserving of this honor," said
Adrienne Shibles, Dartmouth's Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 and Family Head Coach. "Her talents and effort have been invaluable to our program. She has a passion for developing student-athletes and it shows in all that she does on and off the court. She is a rising star in the profession and we are fortunate to have her on our team."
Assante joined the program prior to the 2021-22 season following a two-year stint at Washington and Lee University and recently wrapped up her second season in Hanover, which saw the Big Green up their scoring by more than six points per game. The 2015 Saint Joseph's College of Maine graduate previously served as an assistant coach at Regis College during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, where she also received her master's in organizational and professional communication.
"I could not be the coach I am today if it wasn't for the incredible mentors and student-athletes I have had the opportunity to work with over the years," Assante added. "I am very thankful for my incredible staff, coach Shibles and the Dartmouth community."
Insel was named to the Thirty Under 30 list in 2020 while serving as an assistant coach at Tufts and Lux earned the honor in 2022 while at MIT. Both recently completed their first seasons at Dartmouth. Assante was one of two current Ivy League coaches included in the 2023 iteration.
