HANOVER, N.H. — Low winds in Kings Point, New York kept Dartmouth and the 17 other programs at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's Championship from racing on Friday. The Big Green closed the regatta with a seventh-place finish.
Â
Maddie Hawkins, a junior from Edgewater, Maryland, was named an ICSA All-American in an awards ceremony following the conclusion of the event.
Â
Yesterday, the Big Green and 17 other programs set sail after qualifying for the final round following two previous days of sailing. The conditions of the waters at Kings Point permitted the teams to complete 10 races in both "A" and "B" division, and Dartmouth closed the day in seventh place among a competitive field of competitors. The Big Green were unable to climb the standings on Friday, due to low winds.
Â
Dartmouth was represented in the "A" division by skipper Hawkins and crews
Maddie Hughes and
Aisling Sullivan. Hawkins and Sullivan sailed to a pair of race victories, as the Big Green's "A" squad closed the day ranked fifth.
Gray Hemans,
Caroline Oyster and
Yumi Yoshiyasu competed in the "B" division for the Big Green.
Â
Dartmouth is set to compete in the ICSA Open Team Race National Championship regatta, which begins tomorrow, May 27 in Kings Point.
