Cooper Black Named Semifinalist for 72nd Walter Brown Award

HANOVER, N.H. – Sophomore goaltender Cooper Black of the Dartmouth men's hockey team has been named a semifinalist for the 72nd Walter Brown Award, presented annually by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston to the best American-born Division I college hockey player in New England.

Black is one 26 semifinalists announced by the organization on Monday. He is one of five players from ECAC Hockey, and just one of three goaltenders.

This is the second accolade for Black in recent weeks as in early January he was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List, which is presented annually to the top goalie in men's NCAA Division I hockey.

Black has started 20 games for the Big Green this season. In ECAC Hockey, Black ranks fourth in saves per game (26.80) and sixth in both save percentage (.912) and goals against average (2.60).

Black and the Big Green are back in action this Friday on the road at Harvard. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
