Setting the Scene
The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team wraps up nonleague play on Tuesday when the Big Green travel to Georgetown to face the 10th-ranked Hoyas in our nation's capital. Dartmouth stands 3-3 on the season following a hard-fought 11-10 win at Vermont last Thursday. The Big Green opened a 7-1 lead, the Catamounts pulled even at 10, but junior
Colin McGill scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on the extra man with 8:21 remaining.
Â
McGill finished with three goals and two assists for his second straight five-point game. He's also up to 99 career points (73 goals, 26 assists). Fifth-year
Tommy Rogan was also stellar offensively, posting his fourth-career hat trick in his first action of the season. It began with two goals in 12 seconds in the first quarter, including a highlight-reel behind-the-back goal. He added a third late in the second quarter.
Â
Senior
Henry Bonnie added two goals while junior
Quinn Moore posted season highs for points (3) and assists (2). Senior
Mitchell Myers impressed facing off, winning 13-of-21 draws with six groundballs, while also scoring his first goal of the season to begin the second quarter and put the Big Green ahead by six. Defensively, sophomore
Thomas Goguen had four groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Â
Junior
Mason Morel impressed in goal in his first start of the season, making 11 saves, including two in the final 30 seconds to help preserve the Big Green victory. First-years
Elliott Fee and
Sean McMahon, and junior
Holden Deck, all saw their first action of the season in the victory. The win was Dartmouth's second straight against a Vermont program that has won outright or shared the America East regular season championship each of the last two seasons, winning the tournament in both 2021 and 2022. Thursday was the third straight game in the series that ended with a one-goal margin.
