LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth hosted Princeton in their final Ivy League home series of the season last weekend and despite last stitch efforts, were unable to come away with a win. The Big Green came from two runs down to tie game one of the series, thanks to a
Tyler Robinson two-run home run. The Tigers scored the next six runs before the Big Green were able to get back on the board and another six runs from Princeton put the game out of reach.
Taer Rodriguez hit a two run double in the ninth, but 11 runs were too big a hill to climb, as the Big Green fell in game one, 14-5.
Â
Princeton picked up right where it left off in game two, opening a seven-run lead.
Kolton Freeman broke up the shutout in the sixth with a solo home run to left field. The Tigers added four more runs, including a home run of their own in the seventh. The Big Green once again got the offense going in the ninth, adding two runs on a
Luke Carroll RBI double and a
Max Zajec RBI single, but the Big Green dropped game two, 11-3.
Â
Game three was a thriller, as the Big Green scored four runs in the eighth inning to come within two. Princeton once again opened a lead, posting six runs through the first four innings. The Big Green and Tigers traded runs in the fifth and sixth innings on ground outs and fly outs before the Big Green loaded the bases with zero outs t start the eighth. A hit by pitch, single, and two ground outs brought the Big Green within two runs. Despite getting the leadoff runner on base in the ninth, the Tigers hung on for the 7-5 win and series sweep.
